I’m running this October for my son 🤎
I’m running 20km this October to raise funds for the estimated 1 in 40 Australians on the autism spectrum!
As a mother of an amazing Autistic son, I constantly see the struggles he is faced with. The time off school he has to have for his support appointments, the things he misses out on, the judgement, lack of understanding, wait lists to get the support he needs and so so much more.
Services are being stretched further than ever before - with many children left on long wait lists at critical times in their development. We have been on the waitlist to see a paediatrician closer to home for two years and currently travel hours so we are able to utilise the one we do have. Not to mention OT, speech, dieticians and many other support services those with Autism NEED.Â
I have joined Run for autism to raise funds so more Autistic Australians can access the life-changing assessments, autism-specific education, specialist therapies and adult community services they need to create their own unique brilliance!
Anyone that knows me knows I have a spinal and knee injury and I am certainly no longer a runner. But I will be doing whatever I can to support this cause. For my son and for all others effected by Autism.Â
Any contribution, large or small, will help create a more inclusive future for Australia’s Autistic community.
Thank you so much!Â
