2 Weeks In...

So I've been pretty slack at posting....
Yesterday was my first official Run for Autism Parkrun (last Saturday I was traveling to Sydney). As you can see in my pic, my clothes are too big, and I was pulling my shorts up every 100m.
I've now completed 48 of my 89kms, so I'm pretty stoked with my progress and I've raised $1913 to go towards supporting children and adults living with Autism, which I have you guys to thank for that!

Day 2

I'm a day late posting... 
So yesterday kicked off my Run for Autism campaign. Currently I'm sitting at a total of 89km to run and I'm 9 down, so 81km to go... (donations pending).

Personal Achievement

My love of running started back in 2012 when my old friend Del convinced me to complete the GC 1/2 Marathon with her. At the time I thought, "well if I'm gonna put my body through that, it might as well be for a good cause" and together Del and I raised around $5000 for ASPECT. 
Since then, my running has been on and off due to injuries and lack of time, but now I'm fitter then I've ever been and ready to clock up some kms.
This weekend I did something I've been wanting to do for years; I registered and completed my first Parkrun. I'm so happy with myself for finally doing something FOR ME and it felt so good being out there, running with other people who share my passion.
Shout out and MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated. I'm now up to running 83km! Bob Sheridan and Christina, Kati Jenkins, Greg Sheridan, Antoinette Burrell and Carin Bennett. You guys are legends. Thank you so much!

As I'm close to my fundraising target, I thought I'd up the ante a bit... every $100 raised past my target of $1000, I'll add an extra kilometre to my run. It might not sound like much, but given the fact I raised almost $2000 over my target last year, I'm a little worried...

We're at a stage with Henry where we are looking into life beyond school, and it's bloody scary. Money raised goes towards getting supports in place for our 1 in 40 beautiful, unique Australians living with Autism, including Henry.

I’m running 80km this October to raise funds for the estimated 1 in 40 Australians on the autism spectrum!

Increased awareness and understanding means more people than ever are being diagnosed as Autistic – connecting more people to the support they need to thrive throughout their lives. But it also means services are being stretched further than ever before - with many children left on long wait lists at critical times in their development.

I have joined Run for autism to raise funds so more Autistic Australians can access the life-changing assessments, autism-specific education, specialist therapies and adult community services they need to create their own unique brilliance!

Any contribution, large or small, will help create a more inclusive future for Australia’s Autistic community.
