Ahmad Shady

Thank you - We hit our fundraising goal, now what’s next?

To all my amazing, generous donors,

As of today, I am pleased to announce we hit 101.5% of the fundraising goal, and 45% of the running goal, and it’s only the 8th of October.

This would not have been possible without your generous donations. Whether your donation was in the single figure range or the three figure range, I am certain it was money you took out of your tight budget, as we all struggle through the cost of living crisis, I truly want to let you know that every dollar is deeply appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This cause is close to home for me. As an autistic person who only found out in his mid 30s, and spent the better part of my life undiagnosed, unsupported, and frequently prejudiced, I want to do all I can to prevent this from happening to others, whether they are children today who will be tomorrow’s adults, or whether they are adults yet to get diagnosed and supported.

My appreciation for your donations has no bounds, and since we’re not even halfway through October, I think I am going to lift up my targets. Let’s double the distance and fundraising goals and make them 80 KM and $2,000. I believe that “greed” is only a virtue when it’s for charity’s sake! I mean, more money for autistic Australians and more steps in for my health, why not!

So, I am asking all of you seeing my page, whether you are family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, or kind strangers, to help me push our boundaries further and raise more funds.

Much appreciated,

Ahmad Shady

I’m running this October for the 1 in 40 Australians on the autism spectrum.

I’m running 40km this October to raise funds for the estimated 1 in 40 Australians on the autism spectrum!

Increased awareness and understanding means more people than ever are being diagnosed as Autistic – connecting more people to the support they need to thrive throughout their lives. But it also means services are being stretched further than ever before - with many children left on long wait lists at critical times in their development.

I have joined Run for autism to raise funds so more Autistic Australians can access the life-changing assessments, autism-specific education, specialist therapies and adult community services they need to create their own unique brilliance!

Any contribution, large or small, will help create a more inclusive future for Australia’s Autistic community.

Thank you so much!
